Today has been a month since we knew anything about sweet Tanya. What is incredible is how much the Lord has done in our hearts, our families, our church, our home, and in this process of adoption.....
Today I’d like to update everyone on our progress in the adoption. Already, we have seen the Lord provide a good portion of the money that we need to make this adoption possible. We have been absolutely blown away and encouraged by God’s provision through His people, generous friends, family, and church family. If you had had the privilege of giving toward Tanya’s new family, we want to express our most sincere gratitude and thanksgiving for you.
If you have prayed for us and our family in this, or prayed for sweet Tanya, we also want to express our sincerest thanksgiving for you. We absolutely feel those prayers. Our home has been filled with hope, joy, and peace like never before, our marriage is strong and we are united in a new way, and our family’s priorities have changed. We are so incredibly thankful to the Lord for putting us on this journey.
In addition, we have been flying through the mountain of paperwork that is required. To date, we have begun our home study, have gotten our passports, obtained many of the needed documents, finished more than half of the training that our adoption agency requires, have been fingerprinted and applied for our background checks, have made our medical appointments to be cleared for adoption, and obtained an amazing, believing facilitator that knows Tanya well, just to name the big ones.
We have been told this process can take 6-9 months (which is expedited for most international adoptions) due to the nature of the child being older and our facilitator cutting out some middle man time. But we are praying for sooner than that. Would you pray with us to bring her home in May or April? We are believing God for big things and so far He has come through!
This is hard work. We realize we will hit many bumps along the way and it is not going to be an easy process, either now or when we bring her home. But for now, God has shown us such favor, and as a new friend Bill Holliday told me yesterday, “He’s not just showing up, He’s showing off!”
“I thank my God every time I remember you, in all my prayers for all of you I pray with joy.”
