After an exhausting but fun weekend complete with a 2 day MEGA YARD SALE ADOPTION FUND RAISER, I am overjoyed to announce that we have just exceeded our fund raising goal, as of yesterday! WE ARE REJOICING!
It has been such a humbling month of work, of organizing our own home from top to bottom, finding things we can part with, and gathering things from friends, family, and even strangers (friends of friends) that were donated to help us reach our goal.
I cannot begin to thank everyone individually, because there were simply too many people who had a part. For all of you who donated items, helped with the children, helped with the day of the sale, helped spread the word, prayed for us, came out to shop and didn’t haggle us on price, and even cleaned up, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! There are dozens of you, and I cannot thank you enough!
But there are 3 people who I especially want to thank. First, a huge thank you to Linda Gates, who I could not have done this without. She worked for hours weeks before the sale, helping to price and organize our items, not to mention help during both days of the sale from start to finish. Linda, you are an angel. Thank you for giving of yourself so selflessly. You made it really fun!
Second, Jane Reding, who donated TRUCKLOADS of estate items and miscellaneous yard sale treasures, we are so grateful to you. We are still ebaying some of the items you gave and every penny will be used to provide what Tanya and Viktor need. You are more than generous!
Third, Barbara Hailes, who can work faster than anyone I know, was there from start to finish both days of the sale, keeping customers out of the rest of my house, selling items and even staying for clean up. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have a true servant’s heart.
Friday was a beautiful day, and the nice weather brought people out steadily throughout the morning, raising $600.50! Saturday was not so nice. We woke up at 6AM to pouring rain and cold. But we set up the carport anyway, wondering if anyone would even come. Our first customer was at 7AM in the rain, and they kept coming all morning, too! The rain cleared out later morning, and we had to set up the dining room and playroom for the overflow. When all was said and done, we raised another $681 Saturday. (We also did a small “pre-sale” the week before for dealers from Eastbrook Antique Mall, raising $373 that day.)
I am happy to have this behind us, because it was a ton of work, but I do not want to forget the sweetness of this past weekend, seeing what many people can do when they work together, especially when it is bathed in prayers, and is done to help others. We continue to rejoice!
